Syme, Jane

December 13, 1953 – March 25, 2016

Jane was born December 13, 1953 to Lou and Ellenor Terizano of Huntsville Ontario. The middle of three children with older brother Terry and sister Susan.

Growing up in Huntsville was a joy as many cousins resided there with cabins at the lake for boating, fishing and swimming. Winter was ski season for Jane.

After completing school Jane and some friends headed west. With work stops in Banff and then moving west she found work in Salmon Arm tree planting, then started working at the Skimikin Nursery.

In 1983 she married a local farmer, Don Syme. With no delay son Paul was born in 1984 and daughter Hedi in 1986.

Jane loved to be involved in the kids’ activities in school and sports, coaching, cheering and traveling to games.

Jane came to love farming, doing tractor work and working with the animals. She acquired a multitude of pets over the years. Her yard and flowers became a passion, and just sitting with friends looking at them became a great enjoyment.

In 2012, son Paul married Donna and 2015 daughter Hedi married Gemma both beautiful outdoor ceremonies that Jane was so proud of.

Jane’s life revolved around family and friends with a love of giving and helping others.

On March 24, 2016 only hours before Jane’s death her first Grandson Ian Hunter Syme was born. She had so looked forward to his arrival.

Jane will be sadly missed by Paul, Donna, Ian, Hedi, Gemma, Don, sister, Susan (Terry) and brother Terry, as well the rest of her extended family and so many friends.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Shuswap Hospital Foundation.
